Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff met with Vice President-elect JD Vance and incoming Second Lady Usha Vance at the White House ahead of today’s inauguration ceremony.
Several social media users poked fun at Harris after her election loss, with some suggesting she did not look thrilled.
“You know she’s SUPER bitter about this,” one user wrote.
“You can see the pain in Kamala’s face,” conservative Collin Rugg wrote.

On her way out of the door, Vice President Kamala Harris appears to be continuing her bitter, petty behavior following her significant loss to President-elect Donald Trump.
CBS News reported Tuesday that the outgoing vice president has so far refused to invite incoming Vice President-elect JD Vance and his wife, Usha, to the Naval Observatory, the official vice presidential residence, as is customary. The outlet cited “multiple Democratic and Republican sources” for its report.
In November, Usha Vance, through intermediaries, contacted the staff of the current occupants of the home—Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff—to inquire about childproofing needs for the residence. Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel Vance are all under the age of eight.
Initially, a political appointee for Harris declined to answer the questions. However, communication later occurred between the Vance team and Navy aides responsible for overseeing the residence.
Before Christmas, Navy officials provided the Vance family with an overview of the house. The discussion covered the layout, logistics, and practicalities of moving in, and addressed any questions the Vance family had, according to a person familiar with the call.
“Usha Vance spoke with Emhoff for about 40 minutes last week, sources said. Harris sources said that arrangements are underway to accommodate the Vance children,” said the report. “But people close to Harris say she was never afforded an opportunity to visit the home before she was sworn in in 2021. However, she took office during the COVID outbreak, just after the Capitol riot — and Donald Trump had refused to admit he had been defeated in the election.”
Advisers to former Vice President Mike Pence dispute claims that no invitation was made. They assert that Pence discreetly extended an opportunity for Harris and Emhoff to visit in the final days of the Trump administration—a low-profile invitation necessitated by President Trump’s alleged reluctance to accommodate the incoming administration, CBS said, adding that “no formal sit-down” between Pence and Harris occurred.
People close to Vice President Harris defended her decision not to invite Vance to visit, saying her team has been preoccupied with a canceled overseas trip and managing the California wildfires.
For context, in 2016, then-Vice President Biden and his wife Jill hosted the Pences at their Northwest Washington residence shortly after the election. Harris postponed moving into the Naval Observatory residence until April 2021—approximately three months after her inauguration—because the property required repairs.
Harris was accused of another petty move last weekend.
The outgoing second-in-command caused a stir on social media and on cable news outlets, including CNN, of all places, for a photo she posted to her accounts of her attendance at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral last week.
The event brought together five current and former presidents – Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Trump — as well as former vice presidents Al Gore and Mike Pence. But when posting a photo of the gathering to her social media accounts, Harris conspicuously left out Trump.
The image depicted the current and former presidents all standing with their hands over their hearts. In the foreground, former Bush, a Republican, was partially hidden by Doug Emhoff, Harris’s husband, who stood next to her in the front pew.
The potential snub of Trump drew immediate backlash on social media.
“Kamala, you are a petty POS. You cropped out President Trump and his family. All because you were not able to steal another election from him. You will always be known as the DEI pick who slept your way to the top of the illegitimate Biden regime. Signed, The American People,” former West Virginia House member and Jan. 6 “political prisoner” Derrick Evans wrote.
“Trying to erase history once again. Did you know Melania was there on the 1-year anniversary of her own mother’s funeral? Your moral character and that of those surrounding you in the picture is well shown. President Trump and Melania shouldn’t be in the picture with you. Once again a petty tactic backfires. Pure evil is like that,” another user wrote.
“Worst VP in history,” said another.
