Schumer Called Out For Claiming Biden’s Mental Acuity Was ‘Fine’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) was called out over the weekend by NBC News’ Kristen Welker during an appearance on “Meet the Press” over previous claims that President Joe Biden’s mental acuity “was fine” throughout his term.

The exchange comes on the heels of recent reports and admissions from legacy media journalists that they and others within the Biden administration hid the president’s declined mental status throughout his term, beginning even before he took office.

“Obviously, there has been a lot of focus on President Biden’s role in this,” Welker said during a segment. “You were, obviously, in close contact with President Biden well before the public tuneded into that debate that ultimately led to him stepping down. I want to play you a little bit of something you said last year. Take a look.”

The anchor then played a video clip of Schumer telling reporters in February 2024, “I talked to President Biden regularly, sometimes several times in a week or usually several times in a week. His mental acuity is great. It’s fine. It’s as good as it’s been over the years and this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong.”

Welker followed the clip with another question: “What do you say that you and top Democrats misled them about President Biden’s mental acuity?”

“Look, we didn’t and let’s look at President Biden,” Schumer claimed. “He’s had an amazing record. The legislation we passed, one of the most significant groups of legislation since Lyndon Johnson’s great society, putting 235 judges of record and he’s a patriot. He’s a great guy, and when he stepped down he did it on his own because he thought it was better not only for the Democratic Party for America, we should all salute him. We should all salute him.”

“Do you feel as we have this conversation today that President Biden could serve another four years had he stayed in the race and potentially won?” Welker asked, leading Schumer to demure.

“Well, I’m not going to speculate. As I said, I think his record is a stellar one and he’ll go down in history as a really outstanding president,” he said.

Fox News personality and former pro wrestler Tyrus offered a different take on the bombshell revelation that Biden’s severely hampered mental acuity was covered up by his closest aides since the days of his 2020 campaign during a network segment late last month.

Tyrus’ remarks came after anchor Shannon Bream referenced a Wall Street Journal bombshell published at around the same time that cited dozens of sources who revealed that Biden’s closest aides and advisers hid his condition using various methods as best they could throughout the duration of his term.

Tyrus didn’t blame Biden for the scandal but rather those who worked behind the scenes to not only shield his condition but who also likely ran the country as unelected bureaucrats.

“Reported nearly 50 sources, Wall Street Journal, page after page after page of him not meeting with his Cabinet secretaries, people not being able to get in touch with him, no access to him, him being given pre-planned questions, all of this stuff, not one question about that in the briefing today was shocking to me,” Bream said.

“Interviewing him is criminal. It’s even more criminal to interview him to go down memory lane. It’s not a joke,” Tyrus began.

“This man, whatever he was, he used to be, Father Time is doing what Father Time does. He can barely walk. He’s not in these, we know now that the staffers are making decisions and this, that, whatever,” he continued. “His legacy is basically that they knew that he was unfit. We were talking during the break. If they, once they knew, if they cared about the country, they should have put Kamala in two years ago.

“Good, bad, or indifferent, she has her faculties together. Asking him now to come in and talk to Congress is criminal. He does, he cannot do it anymore,” Tyrus continued. “I think we need to stop blaming Joe Biden and looking at who has been running the show.”
