Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s latest CNN appearance was another masterclass in political delusion. The 84-year-old former Speaker rambled through talking points so detached from reality that even CNN’s Dana Bash—normally one of the friendliest interviewers a Democrat could hope for—had to reel her back in multiple times.
The self-anointed “Speaker Emerita” — a phony title Democrats invented to keep Nancy Pelosi feeling important after losing the gavel in 2023 — stumbled her way through yet another painful CNN appearance.
Was she drunk again? Or is this simply what passes for mental sharpness in the modern Democratic Party? Hard to tell anymore. What is clear is that Pelosi serves as a walking reminder of why octogenarians should not be running the country:
Pelosi’s bizarre habit of licking and sucking on her lips during public appearances has become so common it’s practically her trademark at this point. But let’s set that aside and look at the substance — or lack thereof — in her argument.
She claimed the continuing resolution (CR) was somehow tainted by Republican add-ons. That’s flat-out false. The House-passed CR, which the Senate has now voted on six times, is clean. No poison pills, no GOP wish list items, no extra policy riders — nothing. It simply funds the government.
What it doesn’t do is extend a laundry list of Democrat pet programs — things like COVID-era Obamacare subsidies that were never meant to be permanent. Pelosi’s problem isn’t that Republicans tried to sneak something in. It’s that they didn’t cave to her party’s demands.
The reality is simple: Democrats filibustered a clean CR, shut down the government, and are now trying to gaslight the public about it. And no amount of Pelosi’s nervous lip-smacking will change that.
When the topic turned to Jay Jones — the scandal-plagued Democrat running for attorney general in Virginia — Pelosi had yet another chance to show some integrity. Instead, she did what Democrats always do when one of their own is in trouble: she doubled down.
Rather than condemn Jones for his appalling behavior and history of hateful comments, Pelosi brushed it off and actually endorsed him, claiming he’s still better “on balance” than the sitting Republican AG, Jason Miyares — a man who’s actually done the job competently:
Right — aside from publicly fantasizing about his political opponents and their kids being murdered, Jay Jones is apparently just fine in Pelosi’s book. Oh, and let’s not forget the part where he gamed the system to turn his court-ordered community service into a campaign stunt after getting a sweetheart deal for driving 116 miles per hour — an offense that would land most people in jail for a year.
Then there’s the small matter of him lying about his trial experience and cheering for cops to be killed. But other than all that, Pelosi thinks he’s a solid choice for attorney general.
This is the kind of moral compass you get from the so-called “Speaker Emerita” — defending a deranged, dishonest, and dangerously reckless candidate simply because he’s a Democrat. With that in mind, watch this next clip — and try not to cringe:
So let me get this straight — when President Donald Trump says that mayors and governors who break the law should face jail time, that’s “deranged” and “authoritarian,” according to Democrats and their media allies. But when Jay Jones openly fantasizes about murdering children, Pelosi shrugs it off like it’s no big deal?
The hypocrisy is almost too much to keep up with. Apparently, threatening political opponents with violence is fine — as long as you’ve got a “D” next to your name. And naturally, Bash didn’t bother to point out this glaring contradiction. Of course she didn’t. Holding Democrats accountable would require CNN to actually do journalism, and we can’t have that.
