Most golf fans have never heard of George Bloor. We’re guessing Scottie Scheffler hasn’t either. But the two are penciled in to play a practice round together at next week’s British Open thanks to pro golf’s version of shooting your shot.
Bloor, a 29-year-old Englishman, qualified for his first major championship. And while at Royal Portrush, the man ranked 825th in the Official World Golf Ranking is hoping to get a game with the World No. 1. And a cash game at that!

Bloor currently plays on the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly the DP World Tour’s Challenge Tour), which shared a video on Tuesday of the golfer practicing and talking about qualifying for his first Open. And his somewhat daring move ahead of it.
“Hopefully, it goes ahead. I’m down to play with Scottie Scheffler on the Wednesday, actually,” Bloor says in the video. “I saw there was a slot and I was like, World No. 1, like, that is something, an opportunity that I really want to be able to take.”

Good for you, George. And fingers crossed it happens. Go on, mate.
“Because I feel like playing with him on the Wednesday will give me some feelings I’ve never felt before,” continues Bloor, who is playing in the HotelPlanner’s D+D REAL Czech Challenge this week while Scheffler plays in the Genesis Scottish Open. “And, then, hopefully, will make Thursday feel, well, less big let’s say.”
Not the worst strategy we’ve ever heard. Have a look and listen:
But here’s where George gets a bit bold. He retweeted the video and tossed out the possibility of a “cash game” with the three-time major champ.
Godspeed, George. Godspeed.
