DETROIT, MI — President Donald Trump just dropped a massive bombshell that has the progressive left and “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar absolutely shook. During a fiery address at the Detroit Economic Club, Trump announced that his administration is actively moving to strip the U.S. citizenship of naturalized immigrants who are convicted of defrauding the American people.
The announcement signals a dramatic and aggressive expansion of federal denaturalization efforts, proving that citizenship obtained through lies and scams will no longer be tolerated.
“WE’RE SENDING YOU BACK”
Trump did not mince words, specifically calling out the Somali community, which sent shockwaves through the political orbit of Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar.
“We’re also going to revoke the citizenship of any naturalized immigrant from Somalia or anywhere else who is convicted of defrauding our citizens,” Trump declared to roaring applause. “If you come to America to rob Americans, we’re throwing you in jail, and we’re sending you back to the place from where you came.”
In a subsequent post on Truth Social, the President doubled down, vowing to “denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility.”
DOJ CREATES DENATURALIZATION SECTION
To back up his promise, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has officially established a new, dedicated section focused solely on investigating and prosecuting denaturalization cases.
While the practice of revoking citizenship has historically been rare, the DOJ has outlined 10 priority categories for immediate review. The hit list includes individuals who:
-
Posed a danger to national security or committed war crimes.
-
Committed severe sex offenses or human trafficking.
-
Engaged in massive financial fraud, specifically targeting Medicare, Medicaid, and loan fraud.
-
“Illegally procured” citizenship by concealing material facts or lying to immigration officials.
SUPERCHARGING “OPERATION JANUS”
The left is currently in full meltdown mode, but the legal framework for this crackdown actually began years ago.
In 2008, the Obama administration launched “Operation Janus” to catch immigrants who were ordered deported but later naturalized under fake identities. During his first term, Trump supercharged that initiative, reviewing over 700,000 naturalization files to root out deep-seated fraud. Now, the DOJ is formalizing the process to an unprecedented scale.
THE LEGAL STANDARD
The process won’t happen overnight. Denaturalization must go through the federal courts, where the DOJ faces a high evidentiary bar. Prosecutors must provide “clear, unequivocal, and convincing evidence” that the individual obtained their citizenship unlawfully or through willful misrepresentation.
Despite the high legal hurdles, the Trump administration has made its stance crystal clear: American citizenship is a sacred privilege, not a shield for foreign-born fraudsters looking to scam the U.S. taxpayer.
