LOS ANGELES, CA — President Donald Trump has secured another massive legal victory. In a stunning courtroom decision, a federal judge has officially blocked California’s controversial “No Secret Police Act,” shutting down Governor Gavin Newsom’s attempt to ban ICE agents from wearing masks during immigration sweeps.
U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder—who was appointed by Bill Clinton—delivered the verdict on Monday, ruling that the Democrat-pushed law unlawfully discriminated against federal officers by exempting local and state police.
“UNLAWFUL DISCRIMINATION”
The court struck down the face-covering ban primarily on constitutional grounds, citing the Supremacy Clause, which establishes that federal laws supersede state laws.
“Because the No Secret Police Act, as presently enacted, does not apply equally to all law enforcement officers in the state, it unlawfully discriminates against federal officers,” Judge Snyder wrote.
The state tried to argue the laws were valid safety regulations akin to “speed limits,” but the court wasn’t buying it. Enforcement of the law—originally slated to begin on January 1, 2026—has now been halted.
BONDI CELEBRATES “KEY VICTORY”
Attorney General Pamela Bondi immediately took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the win, noting that the masks are necessary to protect the identities of agents facing extreme hostility.
“These federal agents are harassed, doxxed, obstructed, and attacked on a regular basis just for doing their jobs,” Bondi stated. “We have no tolerance for it.“
She added a firm warning to those trying to interfere: “We will ALWAYS have the backs of our great federal law enforcement officers.”
NEWSOM SPINS THE LOSS
Despite the injunction against his flagship mask ban, Governor Gavin Newsom attempted to spin the ruling as a victory. He pointed to the fact that the court upheld a separate measure, the “No Vigilantes Act,” which requires all officers to display their agency affiliation and a badge number.
“A federal court upheld California’s law requiring federal agents to identify themselves – a clear win for the rule of law,” Newsom claimed, vowing to “keep standing up for civil rights.”
CRACKDOWN ON “STALKING”
The courtroom victory in California coincides with a massive federal crackdown on civilians interfering with ICE operations nationwide.
In Minneapolis, federal authorities have begun aggressively arresting individuals who follow or monitor enforcement operations. The latest incident involved a 42-year-old mother of seven, Becky Ringstrom, who was detained after trailing federal agents in her SUV.
Bystander video shows Ringstrom being boxed in by unmarked vehicles before masked agents surrounded her car and took her into custody for interfering with law enforcement.
Between striking down state-level roadblocks and arresting agitators on the streets, the Trump administration’s message is loud and clear: Do not stand in the way of federal immigration enforcement.
