Chris Gotterup recorded by far the biggest win of his young career on Sunday by holding off Rory McIlroy at the Genesis Scottish Open. He also earned by far the biggest paycheck of his career for his efforts.
The 25-year-old will take home $1.575 million of the $9 million in prize money. (Although, as we know from Michael Kim he won’t actually take home nearly that much.) And after, he wasn’t hiding how happy he was to get PAID.
Gotterup took to Twitter to share the meme of former North Carolina A&T coach Sam Washington saying, “Tell ’em to bring me my money.” It was the only thing he tweeted on Sunday following his second career PGA Tour title. And it was perfect.
When the PGA Tour does bring him his money—or direct deposits it into his bank account—it will be more than he had earned in 21 previous 2025 starts combined. (He also got the keys to a new Genesis.) And more than what he earned during his rookie season last year.
So, yeah, the dude is excited about ringing that cash register. Good for him. And, hopefully, he’s hired a good accountant.
