WASHINGTON D.C. — House Speaker Mike Johnson is taking a victory lap. In a fiery interview on Fox News, Johnson dismantled the Democratic narrative on the economy, blaming “Bidenomics” for the nation’s financial woes while celebrating the roaring success of Republican policies.
Speaking with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino, Johnson pointed to a staggering 5% growth rate and five-year low gas prices as proof that the GOP has cleaned up the “mess” left by the previous administration.
“BIDENOMICS MESS”
Johnson wasted no time attacking the root cause of the inflation crisis. When asked about President Biden’s claims that affordability issues are a “hoax,” the Speaker didn’t hold back.
“It is Bidenomics that got us into this mess,” Johnson declared. “It is Bidenomics, the outrageous spending levels that drove inflation to 40-year highs.”
He contrasted the Biden years with the immediate results seen since Republicans took control.
“We did exactly what we said we were going to do: bring down inflation, cut taxes and grow the economy… Now, inflation is going down, gas prices at a five-year low, the growth rate is over 5%.“
Johnson added that even conservative economists thought such numbers were “unimaginable,” calling it a vindication of “Trump policies.”
“AOC IS WRONG AS USUAL”
The Speaker also took aim at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), who has criticized the new Stop Insider Trading Act. Johnson dismissed her complaints as ignorance.
“AOC is wrong as usual; she clearly hasn’t read the legislation,” Johnson said. “It bans trading stocks for anyone in Congress.”
He emphasized that the bill was written by “rank-and-file members,” not wealthy elites, to restore the public’s faith in Washington. “AOC as usual has no idea what she’s talking about.“
DEFENDING ICE
Finally, Johnson slammed the “radical” calls from Democrats to defund and abolish ICE, specifically referencing the crisis in sanctuary cities like Minneapolis.
“It is estimated more than 20 million people came in… A lot of them have collected in cities like Minneapolis,” Johnson warned.
He argued that Democrats are “assaulting our law enforcement officers” while ICE attempts to apprehend dangerous criminals.
“They need to get out of the way and allow federal law enforcement to do its duty,” Johnson concluded. With the economy booming and the border being enforced, Johnson predicts the American people will “reward that at the ballot box” in November.
