Chuck Schumer is clearly hoping that lobbing grenades at Republicans will earn him back some goodwill with the activist left, because nothing says “leadership” like pandering to your party’s most unhinged faction.
The Senate minority leader — who just finished orchestrating a government shutdown to appease the radicals in his own base — decided his latest target would be a fellow senator. On Monday, Schumer accused Sen. Tommy Tuberville of “Islamophobia” for a straightforward comment about a recent terror attack.
But Tuberville, an Alabama Republican with a spine, didn’t fold the way Schumer no doubt hoped he would. He refused to back down, refused to apologize, and refused to play along with the left’s tired game of labeling any criticism of extremism as bigotry.
Tuberville, who has never shied away from calling Islamic terrorism exactly what it is, was responding to early media reports about the Brown University shooting. According to The New York Times, the gunman — who remains at large — allegedly “yelled something incomprehensible” before opening fire in a lecture hall on the Providence, Rhode Island, campus.
“We all know what he yelled,” Tuberville wrote in a post on the social media platform X. He added: “The Islamic Death Cult is INCOMPATIBLE with America.”
The implication, naturally, is that the shooter yelled “Allahu akbar,” a signature phrase associated with Islamic terrorists globally.
This occurred just minutes after Tuberville shared a message on a different social media platform, cautioning about the threats posed by Muslims migrating to the United States:
Islam is not a religion. It’s a cult. Islamists aren’t here to assimilate. They’re here to conquer.
Stop worrying about offending the pearl clutchers.
We’ve got to SEND THEM HOME NOW or we’ll become the United Caliphate of America.
Enter Chuck “Gaslighting” Schumer:
An outrageous, disgusting display of islamophobia from Sen. Tuberville.
The answer to despicable antisemitism is not despicable islamophobia.
This type of rhetoric is beneath a United States Senator – or any good citizen for that matter.
This fool is no one to lecture other senators about their “rhetoric.”
This is the very same Chuck Schumer who stood on the steps of the Supreme Court in 2020 and issued what amounted to an open threat against Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh — by name. It was reckless, dangerous rhetoric, and it would have ended the career of any Republican who dared to speak that way.
That kind of language has an ugly place in American history. It echoes the inflammatory, fear-mongering talk Democrats used in the years leading up to the Civil War, when they whipped themselves into a frenzy to preserve a system that treated black Americans as property.
But Schumer isn’t motivated by principle — he’s motivated by survival. His grip on power is slipping, and he knows his left flank is wide open. A primary challenge from someone even further to the left — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example — is no longer unthinkable.
So Schumer does what weak party bosses always do: he rushes to appease the radical base. That means reflexively attacking Republicans anytime they push back against a left-wing narrative — even when the issue is Islamic terrorism.
Meanwhile, just as the Founding Fathers stated in the Constitution that there would be no religious criteria for holding “Office or public Trust” in the United States, there is also no religious requirement for citizenship.
However, when immigrants come from a culture that has no desire to integrate into the country, and instead transform the areas they inhabit into extensions of their homeland (such as Dearborn, Michigan, or Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Minneapolis), people across the nation rightfully have concerns.
Schumer appears to disregard reality and history when he is focused on his political ambitions. In contrast, Tuberville clearly holds a low opinion of Schumer and his political aspirations.
We’re not just tired of Democrats defending the worst people in our society. We’re tired of their insufferable lectures and virtue-signaling while they’re doing it.
Democrats like Schumer are getting Americans attacked and killed. And we intend to call them out each and every time they make it worse until more of them are unemployed.
